Habitat for Humanity Sunshine Coast (HFHSC) has received $100,000 from BC Housing.

The money, to be used in the building of affordable homes on the Sunshine Coast for families, comes from a new, “$50,000 per door” grant that BC Housing offers to approved affordable-housing projects. HFHSC recently completed two affordable housing units and is about to break ground on two more units. “We will use every penny of the $100,000 to continue to build homes at the Sunshine Coast Village for our waiting families” said Laurie Vance, Chair of Habitat for Humanity Sunshine Coast. “Two new families are preparing to move into their new homes at the Sunshine Coast Village in Wilson Creek in the next few months, “but applications are coming …

Melts Hearts and Builds Community On December 22nd, Habitat’s Executive Director Ron Pepper was notified that IGA Wilson Creek had gifts and food hampers waiting for pick up for the newest Habitat family.  The mountain of generosity that was witnessed at IGA’s Customer Service area that day brought tears to the eyes of the Morgan family and changed their lives at Christmas, and beyond. $3,000 from the Royal Bank’s RBC Foundation

Ron Pepper, Habitat for Humanity’s Executive Director, recently received a donation of $3,000 from the Royal Bank’s RBC Foundation as part of the 2012 RBC “Day of Service.” Royal Bank employees of both the Sechelt and Gibsons branches donated a day of service to Habitat’s Sunshine Coast Village, a project which is building affordable houses for 14 hard working families on the Sunshine Coast. Each RBC branch donated $1,000 and together they applied for a further $1,000 by writing a story about their experiences in their day of service at Habitat’s Wilson Creek site.
